Raeesah Twahir, is a first-generation Guyanese-American from the Poconos, Pennsylvania. Twahir is an innate communicator with a passion for public relations. She recently received her Bachelor of Arts in Public Relations from Temple University's Klein College of Media and Communication on May 7, 2020.  She transitioned from an Information Science and Technology major into the field of Public Relations as a college senior. Although Twahir changed her major later in her college career, she has demonstrated that perseverance conquers by her leadership. Klein College's Department of Advertising and Public Relations awarded her, "Excellence in Leadership", based on her mission to establish diversity, equity, and inclusion into her public relations career.

Amidst the COVID-19 pandemic, Twahir managed to land an internship at the Urban Affairs Coalition (UAC). As a Social Media & Communications Strategist intern, she researches and implements social media campaigns that target communities color and youth populations. Prior to her time at UAC, Twahir was a Paid Search Intern at Harmelin Media. At Harmelin, she worked primarily in search engine marketing, where she assisted in campaign analytics, content creation, and campaign optimization. To improve her knowledge of analytics, she completed her Google Analytics Certification in both beginner and advanced courses.

Twahir strived to be involved in the public relations community at Temple.  In August 2019, she started as an Account Associate with PRowl Public Relations. Prowl, is a student-run public relations firm, where she writes strategic plans, media alerts, press releases, pitches, and client evaluations. After a semester of demonstrating leadership, Twahir was asked to serve as a Junior Account Executive. In her new position, she was able to work with clients hands-on and be the point of communication from the client to the account team.

Temple University’s Public Relations Student Society (PRSSA), is an organization where Twahir expanded her knowledge of public relations as a general body member. Where she later was able to share her knowledge with her mentees.  Also, Twahir was the Temple Student Government Representative for the Temple University Black Public Relations Society (BPRS), where she was able to commemorate and promote the advancement of minorities in public relations.

Twahir's diversity, equity, and inclusion work were recognized in the Temple Community. In April 2019, Twahir was nominated to speak at Klein College's “Diversity and Inclusion Presentation”, where she presented academic coursework that strived for diversity.  She was also nominated by Temple University’s Department of Advertising and Public Relations to attend the "Publicis Media Multicultural Talent Pipeline" in Atlanta, Georgia in October 2019. She is forever grateful for the opportunities her university was able to provide her.

As a recent graduate, Twahir currently resides in the Poconos, Pennsylvania. She aspires to work within Pennsylvania or Tri-State Area post-graduation after the COVID-19 pandemic is at an end.
